initial ideas

Brand identity tagline- ''stop...horror time'' Name of Chanel- HORROR HD Key link between all videos- watching the horror film is their main priority despite events happening around them. Idea 1- The purge theme Everyone running inside as the purge sirens sound. Someone watches the horror film whilst hiding somewhere. Everyone else is panicking , ''guys shush, there are more important things to worry about right now, HORROR HD is starting!'' lighting- dark lowkey lighting to enhance danger and emptiness after eveyone ran away from the streets. Idea 2- Beetlejuice theme Running home to watch the horror film. fast cutaways of turning light off, switching tv on etc. Shows person watching Tv, cuts to TV then the camera turns back to the character, when 'Beetlejuice' is sat next to them. The lights go off as Beetlejuice turns tv off, and his voice ''its showtime'' sounds Pitch black lighting at the end to add suspense and draw attentio

Conventions of a horror film

Conventions of a horror film  Low key lighting  Shots at night make it more mysterious and creepy. Red and black colours connotate with blood and death. Knives, weapons, guns etc all link to horror Cutaways and close ups for jump scares and fast pace. High pitched non diegetic sound  High angle shots make the victims look more vulnerable.  'Normal average people' to make it more realistic and plays on your mind as it is realistic- enhances your fears. Tilted camera angles Set in past time periods- lack of tech, more realistic, less predictable Isolated

Lighting Task

Lighting Task Note- easier to make footage darker than lighter. 3-point Fill Lighting: 3 lights create a normal-looking scene with soft shadows and average colours . Using a 3-light setup to provide normal lighting across an entire object, the exact opposite of chiaroscuro. This is used in most ‘normal’ scenes with any object in focus. Chiaroscuro Lighting: Chiaroscuro is characterised by h arsh lighting that creates an extreme contrast between different areas of the shot, such as a characters face. Can be used with colour, but also can be used in black and white for a different feel. Common in horrors, dramas and any other type of film where the atmosphere of the scene plays a vital role High Key lighting: High key lighting uses ha rsh, bright lights to reduce contrast in a scene, giving the scene a white-washed, clean look that does not have any shadow in frame.  Low Key Lighting: Low Key lighting is all about creating shadows and contrast between colours . It is used to create atm

Class Reality TV Drama

In order to gain more experience of filming and editing (as a result of the pandemic restrictions) we came up with an idea for a whole class drama. The plot, characters and filming was completed by the class. It gave us some practice of multi- camera filming, sequencing and editing for meaning and being creative when filming in a confined space which may be useful if the pandemic continues to restrict our film making. We all completed our own individual edit after filming.

Continuity Task

For this task we were expected to demonstrate editing techniques such as match on action, cutaways, pace and observe rules of continuity. The story for our video was based around children going missing in a classroom, without the teacher noticing.   For my video I used cutaways to show when people disappeared, as it made it look more shocking as the audience expected to see the students there again as it was a more natural shot. In addition when the teacher was talking, i used cutaways of the students to make it less boring and allowed the audience to have a better understanding of what was going on under the teachers nose. . I used non diegetic sounds to make the video seem more realistic. For example, i added a school bell before the class left to make it look like it was set in a real school and therefore makes it easier to understand. In addition i also used mumbling in a classroom to enhance the sound as not much was picked up in the real film.  I ended my video with a student wh

Kuleshov Effect (cutaways)

Our first editing task was to look at how cutaways can change the context of a shot and construct different meanings and representations.  In mine i cut away to a boy entering a room and waving at the camera, which then cuts to a girl smiling. I did this to try and create the impression that she was excited about his arrival and therefore shows she may enjoy his company and like him as a person.  The next cutaway was to a boy waving at the camera and leaving the room, which then again cuts to a girl smiling. I did this to try and create the impression that she was happy he was leaving and therefore shows she may not like him as a person. This is opposite to the cutaway before, as it shows different opinions of the boy. The final cutaway was the boy bumping into the wall when walking off, which again cuts to a girl smiling. I did this to create the impression that she found it funny when the boy hurt himself and therefore may indicate they are very close friends, or that she dislikes h
