Conventions of a horror film
Low key lighting
Shots at night make it more mysterious and creepy.
Red and black colours connotate with blood and death.
Knives, weapons, guns etc all link to horror
Cutaways and close ups for jump scares and fast pace.
High pitched non diegetic sound
High angle shots make the victims look more vulnerable.
Tilted camera angles
Set in past time periods- lack of tech, more realistic, less predictable
